About Me

Hello. My name is Colleen Faith and I write clean historical fiction. I’m glad you decided to stop by.

My love of writing began at age six. At that time, my father worked nights, so I didn’t see him as much. I missed him, so I started writing little stories and drawing pictures to go with them. Then, before I went to bed, I’d leave them on the refrigerator for him to find when he got home. The next morning, there would be a note attached to my story, telling me he loved it and looked forward to the next one. That early encouragement, born out of a father’s love, lit a spark that would someday become the flame of my life’s passion.

The first bit of encouragement I received, outside of my family, was in fifth grade when my teacher handed me back my writing assignment with a note that said “your writing makes me feel as if I know you personally.” It was then that I discovered that writing had the power to connect, resonate and inspire others.

Early Inspiration

I was also an avid reader from a young age. Beverly Clearly, Judy Blume and Ann M. Martin, were some of my childhood heroes, among others. I also read many classics, such as Little Women, Little House on the Prairie and Tom Sawyer. I even picked a book called Animal Farm off my parent’s bookshelf, thinking it would be like Charlotte’s Web. That didn’t last long!

My favorite authors had a profound effect on me, nurturing my sense of wonder, curiosity and desire to use my imagination to write my own stories. Years later, the effect of their influence remains.

I like to say I went to college to study psychology but fell in love with history while I was there. Now I love writing historical fiction featuring characters that could use a good psychologist. For many years I’ve also been an avid family history researcher. These two things, historical settings and family relationships, combined with wholesome values, largely influence the stories I write.

By the time I decided to begin seriously pursuing becoming a published author, I was married and had kids. Going back to college wasn’t an option, so I began learning everything I could on my own. I’d go to the library and check out armfuls of books on the craft of writing. When I finished those, I’d bring them back and get some more. This in addition to the abundance of online resources, including the Jerry Jenkins writing guild, that I continue to use.

The truth is, like life, being a writer is a journey and not a destination. The learning never ends.

Faith and Family

I live in Central Texas with my husband, two kids and a bichon frise named Sugar. My parents live next door and my sister and her family live ten miles away. We go to the same church and have breakfast together every Sunday. I’m thankful every day for the blessing that is my family.

Most importantly, my faith is the cornerstone of my life. I strive to honor Jesus in everything I write. To me, this means writing stories that entertain but also uphold Biblical values, offering a refuge of clean, inspiring fiction in a world where anything goes.

Look around and get to know more about my stories and what I have planned next. If you would like to reach out, I’d love to hear from you. My newsletter will be coming soon.
